Keeping Coffee Fresh

For the best cup of coffee it’s important to keep coffee beans fresh. Coffee beans should be stored correctly and should not be ground until you are ready to brew your cup of coffee. Grinding beans too early not only leads to a loss of flavor but a loss of caffeine. Not storing beans properly can lead to the same dreaded results. Here’s some of theĀ  do’s and don’ts of storing coffee beans.

Do’s
  • Keep beans in an air-tight package
  • Store at room temperature
  • By small amounts at a time
  • Avoid sunlight
  • Avoid moisture
  • Brew beans within 7 days
Don’ts
  • Store beans in the fridge or freezer
  • Keep next to a window
  • Store ground coffee

*Coffee can be frozen for about a month but it will not be as good as it was before. Also, needs to be thawed for a day before ready for use.
